Dear Partners,
We are pleased to inform you that the Lake Balaton Development Coordination Agency (LBDCA) and the Global Nature Fund (GNF), with the support of Living Lakes Partners, organize the Global Lake Marathon, the knowledge-exchange and experience-sharing online event on lakes and wetlands again in April 30, 2024, to which I would like to invite you.
Unlike the former 24-hour long Marathons, this year we are taking only a “half marathon”, meaning that the event will last only 12-hours, starting at 8.00 am until 8.00 pm according to the British Summer Time (UTC+1).
In the framework of the online conference marathon, we would like introduce the diversity of lakes and wetlands in the world, and to draw the attention to the importance of lakes and to the need for their sustainable management. The event provides good opportunity for lakes to present themselves, their area, describe the problems and challenges they face, and share their good experiences and best practices. At the Marathon, the different lakes and lake areas will be presented according to their geographical location. Each session is organised and moderated by a different Living Lakes partner.
